Sara Wilander BMus (hons), MMus
Sara has accompanied Phoenix Singers for many years. She is a talented musician who plays a crucial part in our rehearsals and our performances.
Sara was born in Sweden and started playing the piano at the age of eight. At 15, she made her debut as a soloist with the Sinfonia Classica of Brussels, Belgium. Whilst still at secondary school, Sara studied with Professor Rolf Lindblom of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
After preparatory studies at the Conservatoire National de Regian of Chalon sur Saône, France, she continued at Birmingham Conservatoire under Simon Nicholls and Malcolm Wilson, where she completed her BMus (hons), PgCert, PgDip and MMus.
She has an international background and has participated successfully in Sweden, German, English and French competitions as both a soloist and accompanist.
She is an experienced performer and has appeared in both solo and chamber settings throughout Europe. She is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician as well as an accompanist. Sara is also a harpsichordist and performs regularly with the baroque orchestra of Birmingham Conservatoire as well as numerous other ensembles.
Sara has been the accompanist with Phoenix since 2005 and joined the Canoldir piano team in 2017.
